Beate was right, the first thing I’m going to throw out is my plan.
But in one point I could stay at my plan. On Saturday/Sunday I visited the company and got a guided tour of the site.

I met the Managing Director, the General Manager and the Technical Director (he is from German).

On Sunday morning I met the Medical Doctor at breakfast at his house. These are the most important people I need to know here.
The rest of the planning was a disaster, I changed the plan not once but twice a day.
The assignment for the 8 weeks is:
- lmprovement of the automotive electricians’ technical skills to make them work more independently
- Training of staff in vehicle electronics and electrics, as well as troubleshooting.
To predict their needs where the essay is. Based on the documents, phone calls and emails I received, I assumed I had to start at the beginning.
Again, no one could tell me what improvement should mean. So I suggested to talk to the people selected for the training and simply ask them myself.
But it’s not that simple here. What they did, was to get all 18 of them in one Room in front of the office and bring them one by one into the Director of Transport’s office; the Director and the HR Manager were sitting there too. I was so uncomfortable with the way they were paraded in individually, but I couldn’t get out of it. They were totally tense and didn’t know what was happening.
So I talked to all of them and after 30 minutes we were alone in the office without the managers.
Now I was standing there with the names of the 18 people in my pad and my notes. Then I made 3 groups.
Group A: the advanced ones, who speak good English, who are already helping to repair the electrics on the vehicles.
Group B: the beginners, who haven’t had anything to do with electrics yet, but at least all have a diploma (in Germany vocational training).
I discussed the result with the boss the next day. He moved one more from B to A and cancelled all the participants in group C – so they don’t get any improvement.
Let’s do group B in the morning and group A in the afternoon.
